Growing up, I've always had a need to create. It all started with peddling friendship bracelets for a quarter and somehow exploded into the passion I have for sewing now. My kids are the main reason I sew (ruffly bloomers look a lot cuter on my daughter than they do on me). It makes me so happy to see my kids wearing something I made with my own hands.
Finding time for creativity can be hard with a husband, 2 kids, a house to maintain, and a full-time job, but that's the challenge - to carve out my own road amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. To live and create with passion.
On my blog, you will probably hear a lot about the following:
- Children. I have 2 extremely awesome kids, a 2-year-old daughter named Haley who is a thrill seeker and could live off of potato chips, and a newborn son named Connor who enjoys sleeping, eating, and pooping. I'll let you know when he gets a wider range of interests.
- Marriage. I am married to a wonderful man who I love dearly. Except for when he jumps out of nowhere and scares the crap out of me (which happens more than you might think.) We have a great, God-centered marriage and we laugh together every day. What more could a girl ask for?
- Crafting. As a kid, I was that obnoxious kid going door-to-door selling friendship bracelets. Later in life, I dabbled in anything I could teach myself from scrapbooking, to working with clay, drawing, crocheting, and now sewing. If there's a YouTube video for it, I will learn it. I'm big on repurposing items. I have a dresser overflowing with clothes just waiting for a new life. Why throw it out if you can make it into something you'll love instead?
- Everyday life. Life can be pretty darn funny sometimes. I like to write about those times. Like the time my daughter hid a crayon in the laundry, the challenge of working out with a toddler, or when I put one of my daughter's boogers in my mouth. I hope you like to read what I write. Or maybe you'll just walk away thinking I'm a little crazy.
